About

Ascend Fitness.
Michael Austin.

I coach people who have a job, a family and a full week — and who are tired of plans written for someone with none of those things.

Michael Austin, personal trainer and founder of Ascend Fitness

Who I am

Michael Austin.
Personal trainer.

I'm 29, based on the Sunshine Coast, and fitness and sport have been part of my life for more than fourteen years. I'm a qualified personal trainer through AIPT, I coach in commercial gyms face to face, and I run Ascend Fitness as an online coaching business alongside it.

Ascend started because I kept seeing the same thing: people who weren't lazy and weren't stupid, following plans that were never designed for their actual life. Two-hour sessions, complicated meal plans, and guilt attached to every missed day. That approach works fine if you're twenty-one with no responsibilities. For everyone else it's a countdown to quitting.

So I build the plan around your week. Your schedule, your equipment, your food, your history — and then I review it with you every single Sunday and change what isn't working.

Outside of coaching I'm a genuine fitness nerd, I love making content, and I'd rather have fun with this than posture at people. If you want a coach who takes the work seriously without taking himself too seriously, we'll get on.

Qualifications

Properly qualified.
Still learning.

  • Certificate IV in Fitness — qualified personal trainer through AIPT
  • Certificate III in Fitness
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card), Queensland
  • Sport Integrity Australia anti-doping certification
  • ASCA Level 1 strength and conditioning coach course — in progress

I keep studying because the day you decide you know enough is the day you start short-changing the people paying you.

What I stand for

The standards
behind the coaching.

My mission is simple: help people rebuild confidence, discipline, self-belief and health through fitness, accountability and personal growth — so they stop settling for less and start building a life they're genuinely proud of.

  • Discipline. Results come from consistent action, not temporary motivation.
  • Self-respect. How you treat your body, mind and habits reflects the standard you hold for yourself.
  • Accountability. Growth starts when you take responsibility for your own actions and outcomes.
  • Growth. Never settling for average or believing change isn't possible.
  • Integrity. Following through, and practising what I coach.
  • Community. An environment where people feel supported, challenged and encouraged.
  • Impact. Leaving people better mentally, physically and emotionally than when they started.
